1. Delivery takes a while and is usually shipped to a commercial address. Residential delivery costs more.
2. This machine is heavy, at about 150Lbs.
3. Be prepared to be blown over backwards from the pressure when you use it.
There are a couple of niggling points though.
1. The instructions could have been a little better. I looked around for a while to find the correct oil fill plug (I'm an Engineer, so it should have been easy)
2. After 2 weeks, the battery for the electric start is dead. I'm just starting discussion with the manufacturer on how to remedy this.
Overall though, if you are frustrated by the ineffectiveness of electric power washers, and need something powerful - you should give this a try.

(More customer reviews)To be honest I was skeptical of buying this BUT to my amazement It is GREAT. I used it first to clean my patio slab, not extremely bad but it worked Super. Still a skeptic I went over to my Mother in laws, the front porch and sidewalk hadn't been cleaned in probably 40 years except for the usual hose job. It was BLACK and GREEN terrible. I used my yellow tip to clean about 1/4 of it then switched to the B&D turbo nozzle. WHAT a differance, it cleaned deeper with less effort and cleaned the rest 3/4 of my job in about the same time as the first 1/4.
I highly recommend.

(More customer reviews)When I saw this item and read the 2 prior, more glowing reviews I was thrilled as we were looking for one of these. Sadly, once it arrived it quickly became evident that this item was not built with quality or durability in mind. Without even assembling the item you get the sense it's very cheaply made. All the supplied hardware is plastic, and most all the places where 2 parts meet it's plastic meeting plastic (save the thin metal handles). Brushes are big plastic "combs". The catcher bag is thin tarp material and is very small- if you use this for leaf pickup unless your yard is 10x10 if you have even a couple of trees you will be emptying this every few steps. When I unpacked it the bag already had unstitched or torn in the corners. My sense is that after a few uses this thing will be useless-one crack in the plastic where there is stress under use and it will be at the curb with the rest of the trash. Save the money-even for light duty, I would not recommend. We sent ours back today. First item I have ever sent back to Amazon. Maybe one day I will find an old used one from the 70s at a garage sale-one that's made of metal and canvas with a LARGE catcher that will stand up to the task. Gave it 2 stars instead of one since it may actually pick items up-though we never tried.

(More customer reviews)I bought a surface cleaner from a "big box" store that was lousy. It broke halfway into the first use.
After a little research, I found this Northstar Surface Cleaner available at a local Northern Tools location. It's a solid, well-built metal unit. Super-simple to assemble--just screw on the extension to the base.
The only problem I had was initially the cleaning heads didn't rotate very well. I "tweaked" the angle of the heads (used a crescent wrench to move the threaded heads) so there was more "thrust" and then voila!, it worked like a champ.
There are cheaper surface cleaners, but like every tool the better built stuff usually costs a little more. This is well worth it in my view. I cleaned my back patio, both walkways and then my driveway a few hours. (Note that I did have to go back and wash off the loose residue from the concrete. This cleaner does a good job of "blasting" the gunk up, but not pushing it in one direction to remove it from the surface completely.)

It starts easily (if you unload the pump by pulling the trigger when starting like the manual tells you) and works beautifully. I only have ~ 2days use on the washer and haven't let it run for more that 5 sec without pulling the trigger because I don't want to have to rebuild the pump & seals.
I bought a rotating nozzle @ Home Depot for $37.00 and, it too, worked great until the end of my job and then it stopped rotating. I returned it for a new one.

(More customer reviews)I had this pressure washer sitting brand new and unused in my garage for nearly two years when I finally got around to using it. I had a problem with it where after starting the engine I'd get high pressure for about 3 seconds and then the water flow would stop altogether, while the engine kept running. I called the 800 number in the manual, and they put me through to an engineer who knew what the problem was - a "check valve" near the outlet hose that got sticky after the item sat unused for two years. He walked me through how to remove the valve and clean it up, and after that it worked like a charm, and has since then. The tech guy was obviously intimately familiar with every nut and bolt on this machine, and could immediately diagnose and clearly explain how to fix the problem. He offered to send me a new valve no charge, but it wasn't necessary. The Honda engine starts easy every time. I wouldn't have thought to review this product, but I was so impressed with the tech support that I just had to give some credit where it's due.

I decided on electric over gas after discussions with landscapers and deck builders. Both advised that long term use of the more powerful gas washers raised the grain too much on wood decks and resulted in damage. Also, both suggested that if you are not using a gas powered washer often, they become difficult to start and run poorly. This from guys who use them regularly and still experience those problems. I wanted something easy to use and easily stored. I find it simple to operate and so does my wife.
The rotating scrubber head works very well on both wood and concrete--especially exposed aggregate. The other head works pretty well but I recently had trouble with it maintaining pressure. We've used it on our wood deck, exposed aggregate pool deck, concrete and asphalt driveway. It's worked just fine. Again you don't have unlimited pressure but the 1850 provided more than enough to complete each job faster and better than a regular hose.
I have not experienced any problems with hooking up the hoses but I'm pretty careful about it. Nothing has worn out but the handle used on the hose reel fell off. I think a larger screw will solve that problem.
Easy to use. Easy to store. Just make sure you have a large enough extension cord and you are using a receptacle that has few other demands as it will trip a breaker otherwise.
Nice little machine that makes household projects a lot easier. No waiting or paying ridiculous costs for a "professional" pressure washer. I would give 5 stars but I'm waiting to see how it holds up in the long term.
